The Road to Success

I see a mriad of posts on Linkedin and elsewhere about people who made 200 Million Dollars at 21 and you can too if you send us $ 14.99 to learn the secret.

The secret is that there is no secret !

There is not and never has been a shortcut on the road to success. It’s an uphill climb and often you slip on the loose road surface and fall back, grazing your knees and elbows. No one comes along on an e scooter and offers you a quick lift to the top. Of course some kind mentors and coaches will give you a short lift part of the way in their old Saab convertible but once you have gotten to their turn off it is up to you to continue your journey up the road.

Many get tired and sit by the roadside or take detours (detours lead away from the summit , not towards it !). Unfortunately some slip and fall off the edge of the road into the long grass. Only the very determined and driven keep on walking uphill despite all of the setbacks, adverse weather , worn out shoes etc.

And as you get towards the summit and see the view many say to themselves that the view was just as good a mile back when their knees were not so sore and the drinks at the roadside refreshment stand were just as tasty. Very few get to see the summit and even fewer still think that the view is worth the climb.

Often at the top there are vultures circling and insects crawling around making life constantly uncomfortable whereas at the last stop a mile lower down the air is clear and the food is edible, even if the matress is a little harder !

Others get to the top and look at the view and see the moon. They start to think about how to get there and meanwhile the sun sets and they can no longer admire the view.
